which one?

For the last several years I have gone back and forth with which length I want my hair to be. I will cut it short, then want it long. Then grow it to a medium length, get tired of it, and cut it all off again. Just to wish I had long hair again. I have my hair back to a medium length again, and want to cut it off. So, before I do anything drastic, I wanted to ask what you think.

Medium/Long length:

Or Short (I am obviously the one on the left):

Ok, your thoughts?

Have I ever told you that I have a purse fetish? Well…I do. I love purses. Honestly, they are the only thing that I will buy multiples of when it comes to buying for me. I am not a girl who tries to dress in the latest fashions. I don’t get mani’s or pedi’s. I barely even wear makeup. But I do love purses. I don’t know what it is. Anyway, I will get to the point since I have begun to ramble.

This week I have come across a great ministry: Haitian Creations. The product of this ministry is, you guessed it, purses. The purses are handmade in Haiti, by the women of the Heartline Ministries Sewing Program. This is such an awesome concept.

Aaron wrote about it this week from his visit to Haiti:

β€œThese women then sell their purses (through Heartline) and are able to make a personal profit off their products. They end up owning a sewing machine, keeping a portion of the profit and saving some in a personal banking account. In every practical way, they are learning skills and crafts to provide income and savings for themselves and their families. And they are incredibly skilled at it.”

Check out some of the designs! These are great!

*By clicking on any of these purses, it will take you to the artist and her other designs.

I really don’t know if the “da da”s are right for the lyrics of that song. Oh well. It fits…for me at least. This post is basically just going to be bullets points of the weekend/day to save me (and most definitely you) from having to type out tons of paragraphs πŸ™‚

  • This past weekend was Girls’ Weekend in Gatlinburg. Katie Beth and myself have not seen each other in months. And because she just got back from an amazing three month trip to Italy, it was about time we played catch up! (Pictures to come later, but not very many b/c I am a horrible photographer apparently!)
  • I got some really great pin striped pants from the Banana Republic outlet store. They are a tad too big and a tad too long, but hey, I figure it is better than a tad too tight!
  • Tim and I had a great night last night. When I got home he talked me into going to the gym with him. I agreed, but only because I could walk on the tredmill and get by pretty easy. We got there, and no joke, the darn thing wouldn’t turn on. So, I did 20 minutes on the olyptical. My legs were like jello later on! (I am SO out of shape)
  • Tim and I, along with the rest of our Community Group, are going through a marriage work book. It is pretty interesting. We will see how it goes. More than anything, I am enjoying sitting down with Tim and going through it together.
  • I wore my hair wavy today. I hardly ever do, but I like it πŸ™‚Β mypicture1
  • My driver’s side window on my car has great difficulty rolling back up at times if you choose to roll it down (it is electric). This morning I swung by Pal’s to get some sweet tea and a sausage biscuit. I am lazy and it is cold, so I decided to risk it and just roll down the window. Yeah, it didn’t roll back up. So I had to make the thirty minute drive w/ the window down, with it snowing and the temperature at 19 degrees! Holy cow! Thankfully I got it to roll back up around 10 this morning.
  • Talked to Bethany today about Interim Care. Not that we will be choosing this any time soon, just looking at our options. (No, we are not serious enough right now to set up any appointments. The building I work in has a Bethany office, so I see them every day. Just a convenient chat πŸ™‚
  • Going to the doctor today to get my second round of Hep. B shots for our Ethiopia trip in June πŸ™‚
  • I am really starting to get worried about my memory. I seem to have no short term memory. But then I can remember some of the most random things to the detail. It is really odd. And embarrassing at times.

Ok, I think that is all I have going on right now! Busy, busy! But fun times!

How was your weekend/Monday?

my valentine, my love

I know that he never looks at this. But I don’t expect him to. It just isn’t him. And I have learned to love that about him. So, as much as it may make you want to gag, or stop reading, I wanted to share a few reasons why I love my honey..

*He is one of the most genuine, sincere people I have ever met. Everyone who knows him knows that if he says/does it, he means it.

*He teaches me new things, with LOTS of patience, daily.

*He is not scared to fight with me

*His #1 reason that he loves me (which I won’t tell you, sorry)

*baw-chica-waw-waw πŸ˜‰

*He will be a GREAT father, and will be the one to discipline (thank goodness, b/c I am horrible at that!)

*He wants to make a difference

*He plays the drums, oh yeah, that’s hot!

*He likes to spoil me

*He wants to be a good and godly father.

*He tells me I am his favorite.

*He is loyal.

*He doesn’t believe in obligations (which, at some point can be a problem, but has freed me from so much)

*I feel safe and comfortable in myself with him.

*We are complete opposites (a good friend recently asked us what we have in common, and the only thing we could think of is our desperate desire to be good, loving, godly parents. lol)

Goodness, I love this man so much! I cannot tell you how much healing has happened with me just from him loving me. He is good to me. The Lord has really blessed me with such a wonderful husband.

I know, I know. I have neglected you. I am sorry. I have just been in a funk lately. Not like I am in a bad mood or anything. I just haven’t known what to tell you. A lot has happened though. Fun times. So, to try to catch you up somewhat, I am going to use the good ole bullet points. πŸ™‚

  • Started the new job….and am loving it.
  • Gone to a meeting about traveling to Ethiopia in June.
  • Trying to learn how to use a Mac after using a PC during my entire experience with computers.
  • Said Happy Birthday to both of my sisters.

    Diana and Necie

    Diana and Necie.

  • Read the entire Twilight series…including Midnight Sun (yes, I am still in middle school).
  • Learning more and more everyday how much I need to start some sort of exercise routine.
  • Started the book “Sacred Marriage” with my love
  • planned a girls weekend for the end of February (YAY!!)
  • Figured out that I need better glasses (my prescription now is from at least 5 years ago)
  • went to an Old Crow Medicine Show concert (it was GREAT!)
  • Have been learning more about adoption , not that we will be adopting any time soon…but it doesn’t hurt.
  • Started a sponsoring relationship with Daphene from Haiti.
  • began to think about the future

I think that is all for now. I promise to try harder on this thing πŸ˜‰ I am keeping up with all of you through Google Reader. And when I don’t have to come to my blog to get to you, it is easy to not keep it up. I hope everyone is great!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Brittany over at BGW Photography! After reading my last post, she called me and told me to not stress, she could take a couple of shots for us. We had so much fun with Britt and her husband Jared. We have been friends with them for several years, and it is so fun to see them work as a team (Jared is Brittany’s assistant). They are so funny, and really talented too :). So w/o further ado, here are the pictures from our Christmas Card Session. Take a look and then go on over to BGW Photography and check them out!

Christmas Card Meltdown

…I am about to have one! AAAAHHHH!!!! FRUSTRATION!

Ok, let me take you down the road that led me to this place. A couple of months ago I had it in my mind that Tim and I would have a photo session with our friend, Brittany, who has just jumped head first into the world of photography. She is good at what she does, and it is very affordable ($50 for a session is freaking awesome). I talked to her about it and thought I would love to have the session when it was snowing. Turns out that her oh so affordable price is not so affordable on our budget right now (and it is snowing a lot today!). Dang it.

No worries, we can just get a picture taken at Cade’s Cove in Gatlinburg when we go for our family reunion. When we get to the cabin for the weekend, it was total chaos. There were 22 people supposed to stay in a 4 bedroom cabin. Have I mentioned that Tim suffers from severe claustrophobia? So we get there, things get worked out, and we have a great time. Tim stayed up with all of the guys in my family playing poker until 3am. (And let me just point out to you that I was trying to sleep on a pull-out couch right by them the whole time…note the word trying). Anyway, Tim has known about my plans for a picture at Cade’s Cove for some time now. Saturday morning comes, bringing with it the time for Cade’s Cove, and my wonderful husband (I am not being sarcastic here, I really do believe he is wonderful, we just do not share the same thought process) has plans of his own. He says that he wants to stay at the cabin while everyone else is gone so he can get some homework done. Well, I don’t have to tell you that this began a fight. In the end he came to Cade’s Cove. Only to have it rain the whole time. Ugh! I even packed nice clothes for us to wear because I knew that we would be taking pictures for our Christmas Cards.

Ok, so what am I gonna do now? The next morning as we were literally walking out the door to leave from the weekend, my mom says that she has found a great angle on the porch and wants to take mine and Tim’s picture. I say ok, Tim is not so willing, but gives in anyway. And the picture turned out great! Even though I have no makeup on and am wearing Tim’s old ratty orange t-shirt that he wore two days ago b/c I for some reason over packed for him, but didn’t pack really any clothes for me. I was so surprised. And excited! We finally have a picture! YAY!

My mom emails me the picture, and it still looks great! So then I start the long process of looking at the photo Holiday cards on Kodak.com and Walgreens.com. Last year we had a red card, so I don’t want to do that again this year (even though I am really drawn to all of the red ones); and there is a lot of red in the picture. So I find a card that I like, go to upload the picture, and it tells me that the quality is not good enough and it will print out blurry. ARE YOU SERIOUS???!!!

Then I decide that if photo cards won’t work, maybe I will make my own cards. That will be fun. And I can get wallet sized photos (which was the only size that would be decent quality with that picture) and glue them on front. Lovely! I am excited again! Then I went to check the prices. Did you know that wallet sized photos are way more expensive than 5×7’s?! To get 40 pictures it would cost me around $50! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!

I am thinking now of not even doing Christmas cards this year. And to think when I started out, this was fun and I was so excited. Now it just seems like a huge hassle.

Just in case you are wondering about the picture. Gah, even on here it is blurry!

I know, I know, the grammar in my title is incorrect. I don’t care. Julie has posted the pictures of one of my favorite weddings that I have been to. Go check them out! They are gorgeous and unlike any other wedding I have ever seen. Even if you do not know Kelly and Ian, you will love these pictures. They tell the story of the genuineness, the love, the fun, and the community that made up that day. It seemed to be the perfect day! Go HERE to see!!

Tomorrow I am going to a wedding of a friend that I haven’t really gotten to see much of in awhile. I am so excited. This is not going to be like any other wedding I have ever been too! And, it is a potluck wedding. You heard that right! I am excited! The wedding will be in an orchard in Boone. Yay for Boone! I bet it is beautiful this time of year! I will be sure to post lots of pictures next week. I hope your weekend is a great one. Here is a picture of me and the beautiful bride (which I will admit that it is my husband who is cut out of the picture b/c he intentionally messed it up by not smiling…he loves to do that):
