Christmas Day

As I have told you already, there will be no travel on our Christmas Day. I absolutley love this plan. I LOVE our family! I do, so much. But I am so tired of travel and obligations on the holidays. No more I say, and so does Tim too. Tomorrow will be filled with sleeping in, cooking, hanging out with Kansas and Blu, long walks, hot chocolate, cooking again, movies, and more….if only we had a fireplace (we fell in love with the fireplaces at the timeshare this past weekend; more on that later).

To start off the day, I will make some great coffee for Tim and some hot chocolate for me. I will also cook this. Then we will probably go on a long walk with Blu and Kansas.

After that we might come in for a game of Catch Phrase or the ERS card game that I am no good at. Then for some lunch. After lunch we may take a nap or watch a movie or who knows. It doesn’t matter because today is obligation free day!! (It does sound extremely self centered now, but truthfully we are starting this tradition now for when we have children. I really want to infuse in them the importance of family and not obligations. And I love the idea of just staying home with the kiddos on the holidays just cooking, cuddling, talking about the important things, and just loving on each other. We most certainly want to spend time with family for the holidays…just not ON the holidays). Then to start cooking again. I am thinking about cooking this, with this. Then after dinner we will curl up on the couch and read the Christmas Story of baby Jesus and give praise and thanks to our Lord and Saviour.

What are you doing for Christmas?

Mixed Media Art Raffle

I am really excited about this raffle! I don’t know the people the raffle is for. I went to middle and high school with the Laura from Pitter Patter Art. She is a fabulous artist! She is donating this piece of art for a raffle for Tracy and Clay to bring their little boy home from Ethiopia.

The piece of art is a 16×20 mixed media piece with different names of Jesus. It is gorgeous! I would love to have this hanging in my home. And for just $10, you could have your name thrown into the raffle too.

Go over to “Our story for HIS glory!!” and enter for your chance to win this piece of art. Also, help spread the word on your blog or through email.

What’s new?

I think that I have hinted at something new coming into my life a couple of posts ago. Now I can officially tell you.

What’s new? I have a new job. I couldn’t officially say before because my current employer didn’t know yet. I put in my notice yesterday and they were so sweet about it. It was really hard, and I cried. But I can tell that they care about what happens to me, and that means so much.

The new position will be with a ministry. I am excited because I have really wanted to work for a ministry for awhile now. I am so excited that the Lord has opened this door for me. And I truely feel this is where I am supposed to be.

The ministry focuses on connecting Christian leaders in the community so that they may be able to better serve the community and further the Kingdom of Christ.

The position is “facility host”. Part of the services this ministry offers is meeting rooms for businesses that might not have a place to meet. As the facility host, I will help to create a welcoming and inviting environment at the “facility”. I will help to manage the schedule of each of the meeting rooms, and also help to set up the meeting rooms.

There will also be some public speaking involved, which I love. And I will assist the Communications Director where needed. And I am sure there will be lots of other aspects of this position, but since it is a new position, we will learn as we go.

I am really excited. I will keep you updated!

So…what’s new with you?

Ronel

The Parkers are trying to bring home their beautiful son/brother from Haiti. They need our help. They could possibly have only a few weeks to make this happen. They still need $4,000 to bring him home.

Debra has listed some ways that you can help. Here they are:

“1.  Pray for us.  our paperwork.  the Haiti side. The financing.
2.  Buy a shirt. [see HOPE t shirt post]
3.  Buy a Haiti photo. [below]
4.  Tell your friends.
5.  Pray for our paperwork translator.
6.  Please pray for our son in Haiti.”

Please go over to her blog and pray about the ways that you can help this family out. She has photos on there that you could buy and t-shirts. Or if you feel you cannot afford either, please help to spread the word through email/word of mouth/on your blog/whatever (get creative).

Please help to bring this boy home to his forever family.

Holiday plans

I love my family. My husband’s side and my side both. But I am so tired of the traveling, figuring out what to bring to dinner/lunch, obligations, and it goes on and on. So Tim and I decided that we don’t want to do it anymore on the actual Holiday. We will spend that Holiday at home, with each other, cooking our own meal (how we like it), being thankful for each other, and doing what we want to do. I know it sounds selfish, I guess it really is. But I want to do all of those things when we have children at our house. We can do extended family stuff on the weekend before or after. I just want it to be simple, laid back, easy going.

What do you do for the Holidays?
