Wrong email address

I got this as a forward today. I don’t like to do forwards, so I thought I would post this on here. I thought it was really cute:

A lesson to be learned from typing the wrong email address!

A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier.

Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day.

The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to his wife. However, he accidently left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, sent the email.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston, a widow had just returned home from her husbands funeral. He was a minister who passed away following a heart attack.

The widow decided to check her email expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted. The widows son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife
Subject: I’ve arrived
Date: October 16, 2005

I know you’re surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and you are allowed to send emails to your loved ones. I’ve just arrived and have been checked in. I’ve seen that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then!!!!

Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.

P.S. Sure is freaking hot down here.

The Hydrate Project: Shashamene

I wanted to share with you all the launch of a new campaign.

The Hydrate Project: Shashamene

This is a campaign my husband and I are heading up in our church. We are so excited about it! Check out the website for The Hydrate Project here. The purpose of the campaign is to first raise awareness about the global water crisis. I know people do not know the weight of this problem. I know I did not before I started reading up on this. Secondly, the purpose of the campaign is to raise money. Money to go toward building a clean water well in Shashamene, Ethiopia. The goal of the campaign is to raise $5000 (the amount it takes to build the well) by the end of 2008. That is completely doable!I will write more how this all began later. For now, go and check out the site!

Budgetting

I am horrible at budgeting my money! I know how to do the envelope system, but rarely make myself do it. Also, I don’t know how to establish which categories things should fall under. Does anyone have any suggestions? Do you have your own system, or a system you have learned? What is it? Please do share (information, not your money ;) ).

The Kite Runner

I am reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini right now. I have had so many people tell me how great of a book it is. I really struggled to get into it. I read his book he wrote after the Kite Runner first. It is A Thousand Splendid Suns. I really enjoyed that book. I think probably because it was about women and I was able to identify with them. I was determined to get to the good part of The Kite Runner, which I believe I am now. I am really just rambling right now. One thing I do appreciate from both of them is learning about another part of this world, which seems like a completely different world to me. It is amazing to learn how different people are from yourself. I don’t really know what else to say about that. I just really like learning of how others live their lives and how they deal with what is going on around them. These two books illustrate that very well. Anyway, enough of this randomness. I definitly recommend both of the these books. Enjoy!

A new group

My husband and I have been apart of a certain group of people from our church since we joined. It is our community group. We loved this group. Even though we may have been fighting it a little (or a lot), they were a very important part to our lives. When I say fighting it, I mean I have gone through some hard times, inner battles if you will, within the past year and didn’t really want to have anyone close to be. Regardless of any of that, these people loved me. These people hold a very special place in my heart.

We knew it was coming, just didn’t pay much attention to it. Two of the couples in the group had husbands who are in medical school. The time would come when they had to move away for their residency program. It just so happened when that time came, our group leader and his wife felt the call to work for a different ministry. They too would be leaving the group. That left two couples, two other individuals, and no leader. None of us wanted to be the leader, for various reasons. So, we either needed to find a new leader, or find a new group.

Last night we visited a new group. The people in this group are really wonderful. They are actually, for the most part, all really good friends of our’s. Well, they have been at one time. Circumstances have caused us to not be able to see each other, thus we have grown apart. Anyhow, getting to hang out with them last night and dig into scripture and to have discussion with them was really great. But I couldn’t help miss my other group.

There are things about our other group that I miss. For instance, one of the families had a little boy who is almost 2. He would watch a movie while we had our lesson. When his movie was over, we would hear him become unsettled. The movie would need to be re-started. One of us, it really didn’t matter who, would go and take care of him. It sounds silly, but things like that made my heart happy. We took care of each other, at least for that one night of the week. I loved that.

I know that as we continue to be apart of this group, we will grow closer to them and develop group characteristics of our own. And I am really excited about that. I know that we will learn a lot from this group. I am excited to see the ways God makes this group special to me.

House

Tim and I are really big fans of the show House. We saw the saddest episode ever the other night. I cried. I can’t wait to see what ends up happening. I am not going to tell you what happened. If you want to find out, go here. Here is the promo for it. It was really good and worth seeing.

I’m Back!

Hey everyone! I am back from a really amazing vacation with my wonderful husband. We went to Charleston, SC for a week. It was awesome! We stayed right in the middle of downtown, which was great! We went on a horse carriage tour of the city, a ghost walk tour of a jail house, to the Aquarium, visited Folly Beach and ate at some really great restaurants. We also just laid around a whole lot. At first I felt guilty for just staying in our room so much, but then I realized that this was our vacation and we can do whatever we want. That was great! The resort we stayed at was REALLY nice. We loved it! Ok, here are some pictures. Notice how much Tim loves the camera (yeah right!).

Our One year anniversary we went to a really nice restaurant named High Cotton. We actually didn’t really how nice it was until we were there. It was the kind where we spent a lot and got a small portion of food. Then we went back to the hotel and ate a piece of our wedding cake. It was actually really good.

One year Anniversary!

When we went on the horse carriage tour I took lots of pictures of houses we liked. I didn’t realize how much history was in Charleston. I’ll save you the bore of going through all of those pictures. Here is one of probably my favorite house we saw. Also, I LOVED the cobblestone streets. They were really pretty.

We bought a house while we were there

Below on the left is the street men used to duel on. They decided they shouldn’t do it out where women and children could see and they needed a place it would be safe for everyone else.

Then we went on a ghost walk tour of an old jail. I thought it was funny (not at the time of course) b/c I was quietly freaking out and Tim was checking out how the jail was constructed. I kept looking over to him checking out the walls and what material it was made out of. It was really funny. At first I took a lot of pictures in there, but then I slowed down. They kept saying to take lots of pictures and you might catch a spirit. I refused to look at the picture after I took it b/c I was scared I had caught something. I have never seen a spirit, but I don’t doubt they exist. Have I ever told you how big of a pansy I am?

The ghost walk jail tour

Ok, here are some shots of Tim messing up the picture on purpose of course. Remember I mentioned earlier he doesn’t like his picture taken.

Ok, there is a good one.

Also, I got a new necklace. I really like it and was really happy b/c I have been looking for a new necklace.

And then here we are at our new favorite sea food restaurant: Charleston’s Crab Shack. It was SO good! And it was really neat b/c you could drive up in your boat and park it at their dock and walk right up to eat. We loved it!

Ok, that is the short version in pictures of our trip. If you want to see more, let me know. Hope you all had a fantastic week!
